QA Integration and Data Workflows with PAL One

Integrate portable NIR spectroscopy data into existing QA, laboratory, recycling, and production workflows using the trinamiX Correlation App, Open API, and Customer Portal.

For material verification, incoming goods inspection, and material matching workflows, see Material Verification with Portable NIR.

Correlation Workflows with the trinamiX Correlation App

The Correlation App supports workflow-based comparison of samples against a defined reference spectrum using NIR spectral fingerprinting. The application is designed to help users document consistency, monitor variation, and generate comparable measurement records that can be integrated into broader QA processes.

What Is Spectral Correlation?

Spectral correlation is a statistical comparison between two NIR spectra. The method evaluates how closely a measured sample resembles a selected reference sample by calculating correlation metrics such as the Pearson correlation coefficient and coefficient of determination (R²).

Correlation results indicate spectral similarity but do not independently identify materials or verify specifications. For dedicated material verification workflows, refer to Material Verification with Portable NIR.

The Correlation App enables users to:

  • Compare production samples against reference materials
  • Monitor batch-to-batch variation
  • Document spectral consistency across processes and locations
  • Create repeatable comparison workflows for QA documentation

The application calculates both the Pearson correlation coefficient (R ) and coefficient of determination (R²) to quantify spectral similarity between measurements.

trinamiX correlation application uses Pearson correlation coefficient (R ) and coefficient of determination (R²) to quantify spectral similarity between measurements.

This flyer explains how the trinamiX Correlation Application compares a reference sample with a new sample using mobile NIR spectroscopy.

trinamiX also refers to this application in some contexts as “Easy Compare.”

NIR API Integration for QA and Production Systems

The trinamiX Open API enables integration of NIR measurement results, spectral data, and chemometric outputs into existing business and quality systems.

How Can NIR Data Be Integrated into QA Workflows?

NIR spectroscopy data can be transferred through APIs into ERP, LIMS, MES, laboratory databases, reporting systems, or custom software applications. This allows organizations to centralize measurement records, automate documentation, and connect spectral results with existing operational workflows.

Typical integration scenarios include:

  • ERP integration for production documentation
  • LIMS integration for laboratory workflows
  • MES integration for process monitoring
  • Custom dashboards for spectroscopy reporting
  • Automated QA record generation and traceability
  • Spectral data export for further analysis

Key API capabilities include:

  • Secure encrypted communication via OAuth 2.0 and HTTPS
  • Access to spectral datasets and chemometric outputs
  • Cloud-to-cloud integration support
  • Local application integration options
  • SDKs, documentation, test environments, and example code

The API supports workflow integration across laboratory, production, recycling, and quality management environments.

Cloud-Based Spectral Data Management with the trinamiX Customer Portal

The trinamiX Customer Portal provides centralized cloud access to measurement results, analysis reports, and spectral datasets generated by PAL One devices.

Hosted on Microsoft Azure infrastructure, the portal enables organizations to manage spectroscopy data across teams, facilities, and operational sites.

Portal capabilities include:

  • Download and export spectral data
  • Review measurement results and reports
  • Maintain searchable historical records
  • Support audit and documentation workflows
  • Share data across distributed teams and locations

The Customer Portal acts as a central data layer for organizations implementing cloud-based spectroscopy workflows and QA data management processes.

Workflow Integration Across Industries

PAL One supports workflow integration in industries where NIR-active materials are analyzed and documented as part of operational processes.

  • Plastic compounding and recycling
  • Coatings and adhesives
  • Agricultural inputs and feed
  • Construction materials
  • Packaging and multilayer films

Portable spectroscopy, API connectivity, spectral data export, and centralized cloud access allow organizations to incorporate NIR measurements into established digital workflows.
